Apple Butter Cake Recipe

This apple butter-flavored spice cake with luscious brown butter icing. Every mouthful of this apple butter cake is fall perfection!

INGREDIENT

-3 cups all-purpose flour -1 teaspoon baking powder -½ teaspoon baking soda -1 teaspoon apple pie spice -½ teaspoon fine sea salt -1 cup lightly packed brown sugar -¾ cup granulated sugar -1 cup vegetable oil -3 large eggs -1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract -1 ½ cups homemade apple butter -1 cup grated apple from about 1 large or 2 small peeled apples -1 batch brown butter frosting

INSTRUCTION

Preheat oven to 350°F. 9x13-inch cake pans need cooking spray and parchment. Set aside.In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, soda, apple pie spice, and salt. Set aside.

Step 1

Blend sugar and vegetable oil in a large bowl. Fully mix eggs and vanilla.Stir in a third of the flour mixture and half the apple butter using a spatula. Repeat, adding dry ingredients last.

Step 2

Stir in grated apple. Spread batter in pan and bake 40–45 minutes till tester comes out clean.Finish cooling on a wire rack before adding brown butter or frosting.
