At-Home Takeout-Style Orange Chicken Recipe

For Chinese food lovers, orange chicken is one of the most popular meals. Orange chicken is loveable whether you've had it at Panda Express or locally. 

Ingredient

– ½ cup, plus 1 tablespoon cornstarch, divided – 2 egg – 4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into piece – Neutral oil, for frying – 1 cup orange juice – ½ cup sugar – 2 tablespoons soy sauce – 2 tablespoons rice vinegar – 3 garlic cloves, diced – ¼-inch piece of ginger, peeled and diced – Zest of 1 orange – 2 green onions, diced, for serving

Place ½ cup cornstarch in a small bowl. In another bowl, whisk the eggs.

Chicken chunks in egg, then cornstarch. Bread all chicken thighs.

Heat 3 inches of neural oil in a deep, wide saucepan on medium. Heat oil to 350 F.

Fry chicken in batches for 4–5 minutes till golden brown. Remove from oil and drain on paper towel-lined plate.

Over medium heat, mix orange juice, sugar, soy sauce, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger in a big pot. Stir thoroughly.

Stir the remaining 1 tablespoon cornstarch with a little water. Stir into the sauce to thicken. Stop cooking.

Mix the orange peel and chicken into the sauce well. Add green onions slices to the dish before serving.
