Cream puffs recipe

The homemade cream puff recipe looks impressive but is easy to make with only six ingredients! Excellent for family gatherings, bridal showers, birthdays, etc.

– 1 cup (240 ml) water – ½ cup (115 grams) unsalted butter , sliced into tablespoon sized piece – 2 teaspoons granulated sugar

Ingredient

– ¼ teaspoon salt – 1 cup (125 grams) all-purpose flour , spooned & leveled – 4 large eggs , room temperature Egg Wash: 1 large egg plus 1 tablespoon water

Direction

Bake at 375°F (190°C). With space, draw 10 2-inch circles on large parchment rolls the same size as your baking sheets. Sample dabbling. Two large baking sheets.

Large saucepan holds salt, butter, water, and sugar. Using a wooden spoon for flour. Medium-heat until mixture pulls away from pan sides, forms smooth dough, and leaves film.

Let the mixture cool in a large heatproof bowl for a minute. Mix eggs before adding more. Mixing the 4th egg should form a V on the spoon and beaters.

Mix dough in a large ½-inch round pipe bag. On parchment-lined baking pan, place template. For straight cream puffs, place piping bag ½-inch above parchment parallel.

Lower tip after 2-inch circles expand. Make 18–20 circles on the other baking sheet without the template under parchment paper.

Make smooth water peaks with fingers. Mix egg and water in a small bowl for egg wash. Each eggwash. Baking cream puffs 30–35 minutes until golden brown, close oven door.

Prick each side with a knife or skewer and return to the oven for 10 minutes with the door open. Carefully bake and cool on a wire rack. Cool, then fill with pastry cream, whipped cream, or your choice.
